Newspapers are not printed on archival-quality paper and need special care in preservation.  Because of its high acid and lignin content, newsprint is more vulnerable to deterioration than other paper.  Intended for short term use, newspapers are nonetheless often desired to be preserved for future generations.  Our Superior Performance archival boxes protect as well as preserve!  The alkaline buffered materials in common use today were developed in the 1960s.  Products utilizing Superior Performance technology were developed late in the 20th century for use as preservation tools of the 21st century; they bring an entirely new level of protection to your newspaper and document collection. 

Superior Performance archival box material has over 100 times the acid-removal capacity of standard buffered materials.  But, acid and lignin are not the only pollutants that speed up deterioration.  Superior Performance Archival Boxes not only protect against acid but also pre-acidic by-products and other harmful pollutants that cause deterioration such as ozone (O₃), oxides of nitrogen (NOx, NO, NO₂), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), as well as other harmful environmental molecules..

This Superior Performance is achieved at a molecular level by the use of alkaline buffers combined with dispersed molecular traps to remove and neutralize acids, pollutants, and the harmful by-products of deterioration.  These archival boxes are made from the highest quality lignin-free and sulfur-free alpha cellulose paper, and pass or exceed the requirements of all archival standards, including the Photographic Activity Test (PAT).  The Superior Performances archival boxes provide actual preventative protection for your documents and memorabilia, as opposed to the passive state of doing no harm, which is the most that can be achieved by the better buffered materials.
