Heritage Scrapbooking Products

Heritage scrapbooking has long been a favorite theme for scrapbookers, and the products offered for this topic continue to grow.  Elegant scrapbook albums, along with period based scrapbook papers and stickers, make it easy to tell the special story of your heritage.  Plus, throw in the ready availability of preservation products and there's no reason you can't preserve your heritage for many generations.  Here's a brief rundown of what's available:

Scrapbook Albums : By far, post bound albumsare the most readily available in heritage scrapbooking designs. Bonded leather, or leather-like, materials have a rich flavor of the past, especially if they have cover designs that portray a heritage theme.  Two sizes are typical: 12" x 12" and 8.5" x 11", with the former being the most common.

Scrapbook Papers : Designs can be genealogical based, such a Family Group SheetorFamily Tree, or one of the many beautiful, period-based background papers.  The nostalgia brought about by the richness of these heritage scrapbook papers will warm the heart of all who view your pages.  Make sure, though,  that whatever you put on your scrapbook paper is acid free.

Scrapbook Stickers and Embellishments:  Just like papers, there's an abundance of designs, colors, rub-ons, and even 3D effects for heritage embellishments.  They're more than just a flat sticker!

Archival Boxes :  Not everything you collect or acquire in your family heritage search will be - or even should be - in a scrapbook album.  Not only will you have too many things to fit in albums, but you should keep your originals stored safely away to prevent accidental damage from dirty fingers or spills (put copies in your albums).  Using acid free, robust storage boxes will keep them safe and protected.  They can range from shoe box to newspaper size.

Archival Paper : print out your family history on acid and ligin free paper.  Or wrap your mementos in acid free tissue paper.

However you scrapbook your family heritage, make sure the scrapbooking products you use are archival, meaning acid free.  If it doesn't say it's acid-free, check with the manufacturer. .
