 A YFL QUICK NOTE

Sunlight containsultraviolet radiation, referred to asUV rays.  You can't seeUV rays, but if you've ever had a sunburn then you know their power.  Just asUV rayscan damage your skin, they can also harm your printed materials, like scrapbook pages or photographs.  Long term exposure toUV rayswill cause fading of color dyes and inks, along with yellowing of paper.   Although you don't have your printed materials outdoors in the sun, you may have them by a window that allows theUV raysto reach them.

Actions you can do to help include:

  • Reduce exposure time - Don't leave your scrapbook always open to the same page.  After a few years, remove and store important photos that have been on display.
  • Do not place items near sunlight - Mount a photo on a wall that does not face a window.
  • Treatment -Paper Brightspray can minimize UV's affects much like sun blocker lotion does on your skin.
